Findings show that Bariatric surgery reduces the risk of cancer related ailments among women. While gastric banding is placing an adjustable silicone band to squeeze the upper part of the stomach to create an inch-wide pouch, stomach stapling is a more restrictive technique which uses gastric staples to reduce the size of the stomach. A result of reduction in cancer risk was seen in all three techniques.

The more excess weight a woman carries, the higher their risk of cancer. Obesity along with alcohol use, depression or smoking may increase that risk more.  If women would be more conscious and manage their weight more effectively, a number of new cancer types could be avoided.
